What Happened to Walter? DEI Common Read Processing Space, Today at 3!
“What Happened to Walter?” You may see signs with this question around the libraries these days. Do you know the answer? You will if you participate in the inaugural DEI Common Read! Over 700 people from across NOVA have already received their book, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, along with the Office of Wellness and Mental Health are partnering to offer processing spaces for the NOVA community to reflect on what we are reading. Great books can be tough books, and we want to make sure we a providing community time to talk through some of the inspirational and challenging themes of the book.
Sherrene DeLong and Erica Phillips will be hosting spaces weekly that will rotate around NOVA’s campuses and online. You can find the schedule via the DEI Common Read Canvas Course. Click “Start Here” to find a fall reading guide (to finish the book before finals) and the full processing spaces calendar with Zoom links.
The first processing space will be virtual Today, Sept. 7, 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Drop by any time to chat with us by Zoom!
Next, we will be in person at the Annandale Campus library on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Hope to see you then!
