NOVA PD’s New Lieutenant of Community Outreach and Strategic Planning
On September 10, 2023 the Northern Virginia Community College Police Department promoted Sergeant Tony Ong to the rank of Police Lieutenant. In his new role, he will be responsible for strategic planning and community outreach.
Lt. Ong has been a member of the NOVA Police Department for 15 years. During this time, he has served as an officer, the department’s first community outreach officer, and as sergeant overseeing police operations on the Annandale Campus and then on the Alexandria Campus. In the coming months Ong will be visiting each campus to promote community engagement, open communication, safety events and training.
“NOVA is one of the safest colleges in the nation,” Ong said. “The mission statement of Northern Virginia Community College is to provide equitable access to affordable and exceptional higher education and workforce programs, transforming the lives of our students and advancing opportunity in our community. As the Lieutenant overseeing community outreach, I plan to serve and support the College and its mission, and to reinforce the importance of community engagement.”
Please feel free to greet Lt. Ong as he takes up residence in Brault Building, Rm. 121, or reach out to him by email at tong2@nvcc.edu. He is happy to hear from you.
