Language Learning Opportunity for Community College Students. Apply by Nov. 14
Are your students interested in learning a foreign language to stand out and become more competitive in an increasingly globalized workforce? Inform them of this opportunity! The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers funded language instruction in 13 critical languages. Of the languages with pre-requisites to go abroad, we offer virtual, beginning-level instruction in Arabic, Chinese and Russian through CLS Spark.
Benefits of the CLS Program and CLS Spark include the following:
- Language instruction and participation in cultural programming
- Course credit through Bryn Mawr College
- Course materials
- Language gains certified using the widely recognized ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) assessment
- Non-Competitive Eligibility (NCE) for government hiring
Students who complete CLS Spark and apply for the CLS Program summer institutes following their completion of CLS Spark will automatically be considered as semifinalists for that opportunity. The application for the CLS Program, including CLS Spark, is available here. Applications are due Tuesday, November 14, by 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
