NOVA PD, Student Life to Host Free VIN Etching to Prevent Vehicle Theft, Nov. 1 and 2
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a vehicle is stolen in the United States every 32 seconds! NOVA Police and NOVA Student Life are partnering with Virginia State Police to host a free VIN etching event to help the NOVA community prevent vehicle theft.
All vehicles carry a federally assigned number known as the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). VIN etching is a process where VIN numbers are etched into your vehicle’s glass with a chemical solution. Once the process is complete, your VIN number will be permanently displayed on your car window. Car thieves are less likely to steal a vehicle with VIN numbers etched throughout the vehicle, as the etchings make it difficult for your vehicle to be sold for parts.
Dates and Participating Campuses:
- Wednesday, November 1 (Annandale Campus/Parking Lot #22)
- Thursday, November 2 (Manassas Campus/Parking Lot #2, before the traffic circle)
