NOVA PD and Student Life Host Successful VIN Etching Event

November 6, 2023 / ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)

The NOVA Police Department and NOVA Student Life would like to thank everyone who attended our recent free VIN etching event. Members from the NOVA community, faculty, staff and students came out and had their vehicle windshields etched by NOVA Police officers and Virginia State Police to help better protect themselves from auto theft.

The event was very successful, and we have already received requests to host another in the spring. Please look for spring dates and participating campuses in 2024. If you have any questions, please contact Lt. Tony Ong at TOng2@nvcc.edu

White slide with green NOVA mosaic theme at left. Top of slide features three patches, side by side: NOVA Police Department patch, Virginia State Police HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) Program patch, and Virginia State Police patch.

Below patches are five small photographs. Clockwise, from top left:

1. Cars in NOVA's Annandale Campus parking lot. At left, near the cars, is a large black HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) vehicle. Green evergreen trees in the background are silhouetted against a bright blue sky with a few clouds.
2. Another shot of cars in the parking lot for the VIN etching event, taken from farther away.
3. Closeup photograph of a car owner's hand as they point to the newly etched VIN number on their vehicle window.
4. NVCC staff member John P. Garces with his vehicle.
5. NVCC student Ayao Armel Akoumani with his vehicle.
