NOVA PD Participates in “Grow and Give” Event to Raise Awareness of Prostate Cancer

November 27, 2023 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

Did you know that prostate cancer claims a life every 15 minutes? The NOVA Police Department has partnered with ZERO Prostate Cancer, a fundraising organization that aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer. The organization’s nationwide campaign aims to “zero out” the disease by various means, including encouraging other organizations to host their own fundraising events.

This year marks the fifth time NOVA’s police department has participated in ZERO’s “Grow and Give” campaign. Through fundraising, this popular event helps provide emotional support for patients and their families, secure lifesaving research and raise awareness about the prevalence of prostate cancer.

So if you see members of NOVA PD growing their hair out or adding blue flair to their uniforms, it’s all for a larger cause: to remind us of those in our community impacted by this disease and the need for continued support.
