Gen. David Petraeus to Speak at NOVA to Benefit Student Success Fund, Jan. 25
The new Student Success Fund, established to assist students facing unexpected emergency expenses that would otherwise force them to stop out or drop out from their educational journey, was announced on October 31.
To help support the Student Success Fund, the NOVA Foundation will host retired U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus, considered one of the leading battlefield commanders and military strategists of our time, at NOVA for a discussion of the recently published book he co-wrote.
Petraeus will discuss the book Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine, which he co-authored with British historian Andrew Roberts, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m, in the Dr. Barbara A. Wyles Auditorium, Alexandria Campus (Room AA-196).
An individual ticket to the event is $25 per person. An individual ticket with a signed copy of Conflict is $50. An individual ticket with a signed copy of Conflict and an extra ticket and signed copy of Conflict distributed to a NOVA military-affiliated student is $90.
All proceeds from the event will go to support the Student Success Fund. Your purchase of a ticket will directly benefit our students through the Student Success Fund. Ticket purchases can be made online.
Petraeus retired as a four-star general after more than 37 years in the Army, where he commanded the Multi-National Force in Iraq, the U.S. Central Command and the U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. He also briefly served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He is the father of two NOVA alumni.
Conflict has received many favorable reviews. “Conflict is the best one-volume study of conventional warfare in the nuclear age,” stated the Wall Street Journal. Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said, “A major book that will enlighten the layman and guide the statesman or geopolitical student.”
