Gen. David Petraeus to Discuss His Book at NOVA to Benefit Student Success Fund, Jan. 25
Retired U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus, considered one of the leading battlefield commanders and military strategists of our time, will discuss the recently published book he co-wrote at a fundraising event on the Alexandria Campus in January.
Sponsored by the NOVA Foundation, the event will help support the new Student Success Fund, established to assist students facing unexpected emergency expenses that would otherwise force them to stop out or drop out from their educational journey.
Petraeus will discuss the book Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine, which was co-written with British historian Andrew Roberts, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Dr. Barbara A. Wyles Auditorium (Room AA-196) on the Alexandria Campus from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
An individual ticket to the event is $25 per person. An individual ticket with a signed copy of Conflict is $50. An individual ticket with a signed copy of Conflict and an extra ticket and signed copy of Conflict distributed to a NOVA military-affiliated student is $90.
All proceeds from the event will go to support the Student Success Fund. Your purchase of a ticket will directly benefit our students through the Student Success Fund. Ticket purchases can be made online.
Petraeus, the father of two NOVA alumni, served as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency following his retirement as a four-star general after more than 37 years in the Army, during which he commanded the Multi-National Force in Iraq, the U.S. Central Command and U.S. Forces in Afghanistan.
Conflict has received many favorable reviews. “Conflict is the best one-volume study of conventional warfare in the nuclear age,” stated the Wall Street Journal. Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger called it “A major book that will enlighten the layman and guide the statesman or geopolitical student.”
