NOVA PD and FFX County Police Host Safety Training for NOVA CCI Students

December 14, 2023 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

On Thursday, December 7, NOVA Police Department Lieutenant Tony Ong and Fairfax County Master Police Officer Anthony Capizzi hosted a personal safety training session for NOVA students participating in the Community College Initiative (CCI) program. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and provides opportunities for individuals from other countries to develop leadership capabilities, professional skills and English language proficiency while studying at a community college in the United States.

NOVA Police reviewed safety resources provided to all students along with safety tips to consider while attending classes on campus. Fairfax County Police provided similar resources as well as off-campus safety tips. Upon completing the training, students had an engaging Q&A session with officers to further their knowledge of personal safety and policing in the United States.
