NOVA Police Investigating Phishing Scam on Campus

January 3, 2024 / General NOVA News

The NOVA Police Department is investigating a phishing scam. The below flier has been seen on both the Annandale and the Loudoun campuses. Individuals have been seen on each campus posting the fliers in common areas inside NOVA buildings.

The flier encourages people to scan the QR code, which leads to an online questionnaire that requests personal and financial information. If you see these fliers on campus, or if you have any information concerning them, please contact NOVA Police at 703.764.5000. Do not scan the QR code.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Recreation of red and white flier that has been identified as a phishing scam by NOVA Police. Large white circle partially overlays red background. At top left, inside white circle, is the following text: "Looking for an easy way to save money? TAKE SURVEY, GET PAID." At bottom left is an illustration of a red and white megaphone. At right are instructions to "Scan QR to start" and small white bubble containing text reading "$17." Below is black square presumably containing QR code on original flier.
