PUP Continues Today at 9 via Zoom
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring 2024 Faculty Convening yesterday. The event featured presentations from NOVA leadership and a thought-provoking keynote speech from the acclaimed co-author of The Great Upheaval: Higher Education’s Past, Present, and Uncertain Future, Scott Van Pelt.
Yesterday also marked the kick-off of this year’s Power Up Your Pedagogy (PUP) Conference, which continues today. See below for more information on PUP sessions and individual Campus Convenings.
Tuesday, January 9
- Power Up Your Pedagogy (9 a.m. until 3 p.m. via Zoom) featuring concurrent sessions from NOVA faculty and staff.
Wednesday, January 10
- Campus Convenings (Provosts and deans will send details).
Thursday, January 11
- Academic Affairs curricular updates (9 a.m. until 10 a.m.). Click here for the Zoom link (Passcode: 225685).
Academic Affairs will kick off the spring semester with a brief webinar on key curricular updates. During the webinar, we will provide additional clarification/information on some of the topics listed.
- Discipline Group (DG) meetings, scheduled by DG chairs (10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.). DG chairs will send out information on specific times, locations and modalities.
Click here for the Spring 2024 Discipline Group memo. DGs provide curricular coordination for each discipline of study at NOVA and consist of all full-time faculty within a specific discipline. At the start of each semester, the teaching faculty gather to address pressing curricular issues. Adjunct faculty are welcome to attend and join the conversation. The memo contains information on some of the issues that need to be addressed this semester. Thank you in advance for your careful attention to the items within it. If you have questions about any of the topics, please contact us at academics@nvcc.edu. Most DGs will meet after this session, and your DG chair will send the room/Zoom information. Your guidance and feedback are needed on various academic issues, so please attend your DG meetings and take an active role!
Additional details, including schedules and links, can be found on NOVAnet’s Spring Faculty Convening and PUP page.
