Career Services Partnership Spotlight
NOVA’s Business Engagement and Career Services’ division is happy to announce its collaboration with the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP). Our region — Region 7 — includes three higher education institutions: Northern Virginia Community College, George Mason University and Marymount University. Through our work with V-TOP, we engage with students and employers to develop career readiness resources and work-based learning opportunities, with a special focus on increasing the number of internships in Northern Virginia. Together, we help expand and promote internship options, as well as share best practices and communicate the hiring needs for a variety of industries. We prioritize opportunities located in the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park, and the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.
Faculty and staff:
- If you have students who might be interested in pursuing an internship, have them check out this V-TOP resource page. On the right-hand side of the page, there’s information on professional development scholarships and a link to a Student One-Pager. Students can kickstart the internship process by completing two FREE self-paced online modules:
- If you know of local employers who are interested in taking on interns, please direct them to complete the FREE Developing an Internship Program module. There is also an opportunity for employers to participate in the matching funds program (if they meet eligibility requirements).
To inquire about V-TOP resources in our region or to learn more, please reach out to Laëtitia Gnago at LGnago@nvcc.edu.
