Monday Campaign: Don’t Miss This Opportunity for a Fresh Beginning
For many, the new year is a time to reflect, reassess and plan for a better, brighter future. Many people make a list of goals, objectives and aspirations for the year ahead. But the reality is that many of us will give up on our resolutions after only a few weeks. It’s true — a nationally representative survey conducted with DDG (Data Decisions Group) found that, of the approximately 36% of Americans who made a New Year’s resolution in 2020, 20% of those didn’t see their resolution through January. And by July, 43% of the original group had given up on their top resolutions. We get it — sticking to a resolution is tricky. With every new week, there seems to be another bump in the road threatening to throw you off course. The survey also revealed that the most common reasons for not sticking with our resolutions are (1) an inability to stay on track, (2) lack of support and (3) not seeing results quickly enough. But don’t get disheartened: We have a plan! You can improve your chances of reaching your long-term wellness goals by using a proven concept that we call the Healthy Monday Refresh.
The Healthy Monday Refresh is all about setting intentions at the beginning of the week and recommitting to them every Monday. Setting long-term goals and breaking them into smaller steps at the start of each week increases the likelihood of developing lasting healthy habits and making healthy lifestyle adjustments. Though adopting or recommitting to a healthy habit — like following a more plant-forward diet or increasing your physical activity — can seem daunting, you don’t have to do it alone.
NOVA’s Office of Employee Wellness and Wellbeing (OEWW) is here to support your efforts to renew or refresh your wellness goals by providing customized Monday Campaign messaging and opportunities to help you harness the power of reflection.
Refamiliarize yourself with the Monday Check-In, a tool to help you circumnavigate common barriers and remain on track:
- Develop and recommit to your wellness goals;
- Reflect on your progress; and
- Consider how you will work with a Push Pal to stay motivated and get the most from your wellness experiences.
Don’t miss this opportunity for a fresh beginning.
