January 26, 2024 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

On Saturday, January 20, to raise money for the 2024 Virginia Special Olympics, Manassas Art History Professor Erica Hughes leapt into a pool of freezing water! With temperatures in the low 20s, Professor Hughes donned full fencing gear to support the athletes who participate in the Special Olympics.

Erica Hughes, dressed in full fencing attire and holding her fencing foil, jumps victoriously into an ice-cold pool set up in the common space of the Mosaic District in Falls Church. A crowd of onlookers cheer her on. Hughes is helping to raise money for Special Olympics.
