Monday Campaign: Healthy Monday Refresh, Step 1: (Re)set Your Intention
It’s Monday, our day to refresh! What’s your plan for increasing your likelihood of success with your health goals? NOVA’s Office of Employee Wellness and Wellbeing (OEWW) invites you to take steps to improve, maintain or alter your chosen wellness habits.
Create your roadmap to success with the Healthy Monday Refresh, Steps 1–3.
- Set/reset your intention.
- Pick an action.
- Make it happen.
Let’s break down Step 1: Intention.
“Intention is more than wishful thinking. It’s willful direction.” — Jennifer Williamson
The Healthy Monday Refresh is all about setting intentions at the beginning of the week and recommitting to them every Monday. An intention is the mental state or plan that precedes and guides an action. It’s a commitment to oneself that is aligned with action — a motivational starting point. Strong intentions often serve as a precursor to goal setting, and goals help pave the way to specific actions that bring one’s intentions to fruition. Simply put? The strength of your intention can influence the likelihood of your reaching your goal.
Not sure how to set or reset your intention?
“If you don’t set an intention, you let the day determine your mood, rather than taking control and determining how you want the day to be.” — Melissa Maxx
Let’s support your efforts to close any gaps between your intentions and actual behavior:
- Start by clearing your mind; a “clean slate” can make it easier to revisit and refresh your health intentions.
