Raising Awareness on Human Trafficking, Tomorrow, Jan. 30, Manassas Campus

January 29, 2024 / Events

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Perhaps you thought human trafficking only affects those in other countries; in reality, it may have touched the life of someone in your own neighborhood. Human trafficking is a $150 billion industry that impacts individuals of all ages, leading to labor and/or sex trafficking. It impacts the lives of many people—in our community and around the world. Your knowledge of the issue and ability to identify warning signs could save someone from the perils of human trafficking.

To raise awareness of this critical issue, the Manassas Campus’ Office of Wellness and Mental Health and Office of Student Life invite you to attend an informational program tomorrow, January 30. Guest speaker Bill Woolf, principal of The Woolf Group, will share his expertise on human trafficking with the NOVA community. Woolf has served as a special White House advisor on human trafficking and worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, among other notable activities.

This event will offer two sessions to help educate and provide awareness of this growing criminal act upon some of the most vulnerable in our community. The first session is for faculty and staff and the second for students and the local community. Join us on Tuesday, January 30.

Come learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of human trafficking. Contact Dahlia Henry-Tett, DHTett@nvcc.edu, or Sabrina Ricks, SRicks@nvcc.edu, for details. Light refreshments will be provided.
