Professional Learning Communities Are Resuming Soon

January 31, 2024 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

NOVA’s QEP team is excited to invite faculty who teach ENG-111 — as well as librarians, tutors and administrators whose work supports ENG-111 students — to join a professional learning community (PLC) this semester. PLCs are small groups of practice that meet for an hour each month to support their members as they begin to work toward the goals of NOVA’s Quality Enhancement Plan: increased student success in ENG-111 and enhanced sense of student belonging.

There is no prerequisite to join a PLC.  And if you were a PLC member last semester, please come back! The QEP team has lots of new material to share.

This spring’s PLCs will focus on problem-based learning, a student-centered teaching strategy that encourages both collaboration and independence as students investigate real-world problems.

The time commitment is approximately two hours each month: one hour to complete each month’s readings and one hour to participate in the meeting. Use this link to find a PLC that fits your schedule. If you have any questions, please contact Indigo Eriksen, IEriksen@nvcc.edu, or Cathy Gaiser, CGaiser@nvcc.edu
