Enhancing Course Quality & Student Success with a QM Workshop, Starting Feb. 20

February 6, 2024 / Tech Notes & Training

We are delighted to announce that we will continue to offer “Applying the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric” workshop for NOVA faculty through Quality Matters, a renowned professional organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of online and hybrid courses. As a national quality standard for online and hybrid courses, the QM Rubric has been used by VCCS colleges and NOVA to guide online and hybrid courses to support student success. “Applying the QM Rubric” stands as Quality Matter’s flagship workshop, introducing the Rubric and its application in reviewing the design of online and hybrid courses for continuous improvement to optimize student learning.

This workshop is open to all NOVA faculty members at no cost, regardless of their level of experience with online instruction. Whether you are a seasoned online educator or just beginning to explore the possibilities of online and hybrid learning, this workshop offers an invaluable professional learning opportunity. Two sessions are scheduled for the spring semester, with the upcoming session beginning on Tuesday, February 20:

Applying the QM Rubric, February 20 – March 5
Applying the QM Rubric, March 26 – April 9

The workshop is delivered asynchronously online, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and complete assignments by the due dates. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate from Quality Matters showcasing their professional background in this national standard. As there is no registration cost refund for dropped or incomplete participants, commitment to completion is expected. To register, please go to GoSignMeUp and select Online Teaching on the navigation menu. For any questions or further information, please contact Dr. Hong Wang at HWang@nvcc.edu.
