This Valentine’s Day, Recognize and Celebrate Your Colleagues

February 14, 2024 / Get Well

Valentine’s Day is usually associated with chocolate and flowers, but it’s also a great time to show appreciation in the workplace!

Add recognizing and appreciating your colleagues to the list of ways you’ll spread some cheer this Valentine’s Day. Here are some ways you might do that:

  • Offer a token of appreciation to someone who deserves to be celebrated.
  • Take a moment to recognize the people you serve and serve with. Send a quick NOVAfy or Team’s Praise
  • Campuswide Recognition: Nominations are open for NOVA Alexandria’s Jean C. Netherton Award of Excellence for Outstanding Service. This award, specific to the Alexandria Campus, recognizes employees for outstanding service to the campus community during their tenure at the College.
  • Collegewide Recognition: See the Daily Flyer article “2024 Faculty Reward and Recognition Nomination Period Open, Jan. 22 thru Feb. 23.” Nominations are open for administrative/professional faculty, full-time teaching faculty and adjunct faculty. Recipients can receive up to $2,000!

Recognizing someone for a job well done is a small gesture that positively impacts engagement and fosters a sense of belonging. Take the time to acknowledge your colleagues’ efforts to let them know you value them and their work.
