Call for Volunteers: NOVA Search Advocate Program
NOVA HR is seeking volunteers among our full-time employees across the College to serve as NOVA search advocates. Search advocates support NOVA’s commitment to creating a more diverse, fair, inclusive and equitable workplace by eliminating unconscious, unintentional biases and upholding transparent, inclusive search and selection practices.
Search advocates learn principles and strategies to advance NOVA’s strategic diversity goals, equal opportunity principles, and diversity and inclusion values. Search advocates work collaboratively with hiring managers and search committees to enhance the integrity and effectiveness of the search and selection process. They provide guidance and support by identifying barriers in the recruitment process and helping to identify a diverse, qualified pool of candidates.
The next training for NOVA search advocates will be held on Thursday, March 28, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Brault Building on the Annandale Campus (CH-276). All interested full-time faculty and classified employees should submit the Search Advocate Statement of Interest Form to HRadmin@nvcc.edu no later than Monday, March 25. Employees must be trained before serving as a search advocate on a search committee.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to be a part of advancing NOVA’s commitment to diversity. If you have any questions about the search advocate program, please direct them to HRadmin@nvcc.edu.
