Annandale Student Life & ACCP Launch “Designing Your Life” Student Book Group
Annandale’s Office of Student Life, in collaboration with the Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice (ACCP), is proudly offering a new initiative aimed at fostering student empowerment and personal growth. Spearheaded by Diana Keay and Lauren Palarino from the Office of Student Life, along with Drs. Cheri Spiegel and Paul Fitzgerald from the Annandale Center for Contemplative Practice, this endeavor promises to provide students with invaluable tools for shaping their futures.
At the heart of this initiative is a guided book group, slated to convene bi-weekly, centered around the acclaimed work Designing Your Life authored by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. Drawing from principles of design thinking, the book offers a fresh perspective on life, advocating for experimentation, iteration and intentional decision-making as pathways to self-realization.
Participants in the program not only engage in insightful discussions during meetings but also have access to a dedicated Google Classroom. This virtual space serves as a hub for ongoing interaction, enabling participants to share ideas, insights and experiences beyond the confines of scheduled sessions.
Dr. Paul Fitzgerald, co-organizer from the ACCP, emphasizes the transformative potential of the program. “By embracing the principles outlined in Designing Your Life, students will gain the tools and confidence needed to navigate life’s challenges and pursue their aspirations with purpose.”
