CATE’s Speaker Series: Creating a Culture of Kindness & Belonging, March 22
All at once, the pandemic severed our connections with others. As a consequence, more of us are dealing with burnout and struggling to be kind to others. How can we hope to build a community in the classroom if we feel so burnt out and isolated ourselves?
This virtual workshop, part of CATE’s Speaker Series and presented by NOVA’s own psychology professor Georgeana Stratton, Ph.D., will explore ways to (1) be kind to ourselves, (2) bolster our own social support systems and (3) extend those learned techniques to help us develop a sense of community in the classroom. Learn techniques — informed by the study of emotional intelligence, therapeutic lifestyle change and creativity — to regulate our emotions while showing empathy, find beauty instead of burnout, and “unstick” ourselves to begin to heal and connect with others.
