FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting: Analysis and Intelligence
Join Zoom Meeting
Meeting ID: 878 7916 0225 | passcode: 431580

Violent crime fell by 1.7% in 2021, after growing by 4.6% in 2020. And while the overall crime rate fell in 2020, homicides rose by 25%. In addition, the number of police officers per 100,000 people fell by 6.9%.

What organization could possibly keep track of all these statistics? The answer? The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Since 1935, the FBI has tracked crime, identifying trends and providing intelligence to law enforcement decisionmakers and legislators across the country. Data are collected from more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies on a range of crimes, including general crimes, hate crimes, law enforcement officers wounded or killed, and police use of force.

On Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m., several experts from the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) will join ADJ-163, Crime Analysis and Intelligence, to explain the inner workings of the FBI’s data collection and analysis processes.

Please join us as we learn how the FBI collects, analyzes and shares data to help solve crimes. Rest assured, this will not be just another boring lecture!
