Hear Students’ Reflections on Trip to Montgomery, Ala., Mar. 20

March 18, 2024 / Events

As part of the DEI Common Read experience, 10 students and two faculty visited the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) in Montgomery, Ala., from March 8 through 10. The trip was designed to provide students with a high-quality, transformative educational experience that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. The visit to EJI, within the context of the DEI Common Read Just Mercy, offered a practical, immersive extension of the book’s themes.

Sponsored by the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, the field trip to EJI was meant to support two student life learning outcomes: (1) Leadership Development and Civic Engagement and (2) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Cultural Awareness

Students examined the behaviors of effective historical leaders, toured the Legacy Sites and reflected on their own role in advancing justice. They are eager to share their experiences with the broader NOVA community in a webinar on Wednesday, March 20, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Please register here!
