Endpoint Security Update: Transition from Carbon Black

The VCCS is transitioning away from the Carbon Black Endpoint Security solution which was deployed in December 2021 to all NOVA-owned computers, Macs and servers.  Throughout April, College Computing needs to remove the Carbon Black client from all NOVA-owned devices. When Carbon Black is removed from a Windows computer, Windows Defender Endpoint Protection will automatically reactivate to pull down the latest security definitions from Microsoft. Mac devices will continue to have JAMF Protect Endpoint Security enabled. There will be no lapse in endpoint security.  

The removal process is silent and only requires devices to be powered on and connected to the network for a brief period (at least 3 to 4 hours) to “check-in” with our management servers. To expedite the removal process, we need the assistance of you, the users, to power on your devices and connect them to the network regularly throughout the month. Below is the Carbon Black client removal schedule so you have awareness of when these background changes will be initiated for your campus.
