Update on Financial Aid Awarding

April 10, 2024 / Our Nighthawks

Financial aid has been awarded to eligible students for Summer 2024. Aid offered prior to the June 3, 2024 term census is based on anticipated full-time enrollment in at least 12 eligible credits.  Students should review their pending financial aid based on actual enrollment and ensure it is enough to cover their summer balance by the May 2, 2024 payment deadline. If pending aid is not sufficient to cover their total balance, students should make other arrangements, such as signing up for the payment plan, to prevent their summer courses from potentially being dropped for non-payment.

Colleges across the country have experienced significant delays with awarding financial aid for the 2024-2025 academic year due to several issues with the new 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and processes. The Department of Education is still working to resolve a fair number of open issues.  While some 2024-2025 FAFSA records have been sent to schools, NOVA is currently waiting for Oracle to fix some issues in PeopleSoft related to the 2024-2025 system update before system testing can resume for 2024-2025. At this point, NOVA’s Financial Aid team expects to begin awarding financial aid for fall 2024/spring 2025 in early May 2024. Students will be notified via their myNOVA Message Center when they are awarded.
