NOVA Police, LO Student Life Host Distracted Driving Awareness Event

On Thursday, April 4, NOVA Police and LO Student Life held a Distracted/Impaired Driving Awareness Event at the Loudoun Campus. The program was developed by Virginia State Police to promote awareness of the impacts of distracted and impaired driving. Virginia State Police troopers and NOVA Police officers were on hand at the event to demonstrate how distractions and impairments can affect a driver behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Troopers set up a cone course in an enclosed parking lot where members of the NOVA community were allowed to operate a golf cart–like vehicle while wearing goggles that simulated various distractions and impairments. Community members also had the opportunity to meet the NOVA Police officers stationed at the Loudoun Campus, as well as State Police troopers who work in the area.

NOVA Police and Loudoun Campus Student Life would like to thank everyone who participated in the event. Because of inclement weather, the event scheduled to take place at Annandale will be rescheduled for a later date (TBD). For more information, please contact NOVA Police Lieutenant Tony Ong at TOng2@nvcc.edu.
