Looking Forward to Making Giving Day One for the Books!

Today’s topic is NOVA’s Giving Day.

For the third year, the NOVA Educational Foundation is hosting NOVA Giving Day. This year, proceeds from the April 18th event will support the NOVA Empower Bright Futures Fund. This important fund provides “just-in-time” dollars to meet the emerging needs of the College and our students. Whether that’s support for innovative projects led by our amazing faculty and staff, or emergency grants provided directly to students, donations to the Empower Bright Futures Fund help us transform the lives of our students and advance opportunity in our community.

This year, we already have a great start to Giving Day: a very generous anonymous donor has stepped up to match the first $25,000 we raise on the 18th! Last year, this same donor made a surprise gift to kick off our day of giving and was so inspired by the impact of the NOVA Foundation that this year they wanted to do even more — and we are grateful for this incredible investment in our students!

Each gift on Giving Day sends a powerful message to our NOVA Nighthawks: “I believe in you.” Whether you donate $10 or $100, you’re helping our students reach their dreams.

And, if you’ve been meaning to join the new NOVA Alumni and Friends Network, this is the perfect time to sign up! A one-year membership costs $25, or you can join with a lifetime membership for $500. Paid memberships received by Thursday, April 18, will count toward our Giving Day total.

On Giving Day, I also hope you will join the NOVA Foundation for a special event at our Loudoun Campus: “Coffee Talk with a NOVA Nighthawk.” From 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Waddell Building, you’ll find free coffee, tea and other specialty drinks from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck. NOVA students who stop by will have the opportunity to network with local employers that know the benefits of hiring NOVA grads and hear fantastic success stories from our outstanding alumni.

Together, we can make our third NOVA Giving Day one for the record books!
