Zoom Desktop Client Updates
The next time you update your Zoom Desktop Client, you might be in for a surprise. Zoom’s April 15th update came with a significant icon facelift, along with a few other features. The one thing you might not notice is that the Zoom app or Zoom Desktop Client is now called Zoom Workplace. Changes that you’ll see right away include the following:
- Hosts and participants can customize their toolbar by dragging, dropping, reordering and moving icons. Many of the additional tools you use to enhance your meetings (breakout rooms, polls, whiteboards, etc.) will now be found under “More,” unless you drag them out or relocate.
- You’re still able to manage your meeting security, though you’ll now have to do so through Host Tools.
- The Share Screen menu looks slightly different; if you’re looking for the Advanced Sharing option, you’ll find that on the third tab.
Another significant change happened in the “View” menu (top right corner) for both hosts and participants. New items to note and play around with include:
- View multispeaker when more than one person in a meeting is talking.
- Change the theme for your Zoom app and when running the client.
- Set meeting wallpaper to add customization to your meeting view.
Consider checking out these last few items, too:
- Select the new Portrait Lighting for Video (found in Video settings, where you can touch up your appearance). This new setting dims your background while brightening you in the foreground.
- Be aware that emoji reactions are now more dynamic and will appear and “float” around users.
There are several other updates to read about, but if you have any questions or concerns, schedule an appointment with us or submit a ticket through the IT portal. The CETSS team will be happy to assist you. Happy Zooming!
