Removal of Mozilla Firefox Browser

April 24, 2024 / Tech Notes & Training

Due to low utilization and to eliminate multiple security vulnerabilities associated with Mozilla Firefox, the internet browser will be removed from all NOVA-owned devices between Tuesday, May 7, and Friday, May 17.

For Windows computers, the Advanced Desktop team will initiate a one-time automatic removal of Firefox using our central management systems. The uninstall process will trigger when the Windows device is either physically connected to the College’s network or connected via VPN.

For Mac devices, Campus IT will contact the user to perform a manual uninstall via a remote support session.

Mozilla Firefox users who want to import their Firefox favorites into the College’s other standard browsers (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Safari for Mac) should review the helpful links below and act no later than Monday, May 6.
