Enjoy Our Spring 2024 Haiku

April 30, 2024 / Tuesday Topics

Today’s topic is the sharing of the NOVA Spring 2024 Haiku, which you can enjoy here.

The authors of the poems capture the joy, hope, wonder, accomplishment, growth and even apprehension that we see in our hallways every day. I am grateful to these talented writers — and to all of you for your dedication to our students and to each other. Reading these lovely haiku is a perfect way to celebrate Community College Month.

This is the season of celebrations, and over the past few weeks, I have had the honor of recognizing our students and our colleagues at events highlighting their achievements and service. NOVA is a remarkable college, filled with incredible people whose commitment to the transformational power of our community changes lives. Allison McElfresh’s haiku reflects the importance of our College to our students and to all of us:

NOVA, a place of
first and second chances, for
those of us who dream.

In less than two weeks, the dreams of thousands of NOVA students will come true as they graduate with hard-earned and well-deserved pride. They will not cross the commencement stage alone: thank you for dreaming big dreams for our students, for each other and for NOVA.

Kind regards, Anne
