Dual Enrollment Students Celebrate Teacher Signing Day at APS
On Wednesday, May 1, the Arlington Career Center (ACC) was abuzz with excitement as nine outstanding dual enrollment students took a significant step toward their future careers in education. The students have worked hard to complete various dual enrollment courses through NOVA in CHD, EDU and other subjects. Through a collaborative partnership between NOVA and Arlington County Public Schools (APS), these students participated in a special event known as Teacher Signing Day.
This occasion marked the formal commitment of these students to enter teaching programs, with the goal of returning to Arlington County schools as educators upon completing their studies. Through this initiative, they have secured internships and future employment opportunities within APS, demonstrating the tangible impact of education partnerships in fostering local talent.
The event was attended by a supportive audience of family members, teachers and friends, who all gathered to cheer on the aspiring educators. Leading the ceremony was ACC Principal and NVCC Board Member Margaret Chung, whose dedication to student success was evident in her joy on Signing Day. APS Superintendent Dr. Francisco Durán was also in attendance, offering words of encouragement to the students as they prepare to embark on this transformative journey.
As these nine incredible students begin their college careers, they do so with the assurance that their passion for teaching is both recognized and supported by their community. Their commitment to serving the students of Arlington County is a testament to their character and dedication, and they serve as shining examples for future generations of educators.
Congratulations to these remarkable students on their achievement; may their journey from student to teacher be filled with success, fulfillment and the joy of making a difference in the lives of others!
