Get Ready for Bike To Work Day, May 17!

May 10, 2024 / Get Well

Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 17. Join Commuter Connections at more than 100 pit stops in D.C., Maryland and Virginia for this free event and for a fun and healthy way to start your day. The first 16,000 who register and check in at a pit stop will receive a free T-shirt. There will be free giveaways, food and beverages at participating locations, while supplies last. Be sure to register and get in on the action! Registrants will be entered into a raffle for a chance at winning a free bike!

If you are unable to participate on May 17, now is the perfect time to get your bike road-ready for the summer. Here are a few tips:

  • If it’s been a while since you last rode, wipe it down with a soapy cloth.
  • Check the air in your tires and ensure the tread isn’t worn down.
  • Make sure your brakes are in proper working order.
  • Verify that your chain is free of rust and debris.
  • Ensure your cranks (the arms that connect the pedals to the bike) aren’t loose.
  • If you are in doubt, take your bike to your local bike shop for a tune-up!
