Get Ready for Bike To Work Day, May 17!
Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 17. Join Commuter Connections at more than 100 pit stops in D.C., Maryland and Virginia for this free event and for a fun and healthy way to start your day. The first 16,000 who register and check in at a pit stop will receive a free T-shirt. There will be free giveaways, food and beverages at participating locations, while supplies last. Be sure to register and get in on the action! Registrants will be entered into a raffle for a chance at winning a free bike!
If you are unable to participate on May 17, now is the perfect time to get your bike road-ready for the summer. Here are a few tips:
- If it’s been a while since you last rode, wipe it down with a soapy cloth.
- Check the air in your tires and ensure the tread isn’t worn down.
- Make sure your brakes are in proper working order.
- Verify that your chain is free of rust and debris.
- Ensure your cranks (the arms that connect the pedals to the bike) aren’t loose.
- If you are in doubt, take your bike to your local bike shop for a tune-up!
