Advising Redesign: Planning and Implementation Updates

May 13, 2024 / General NOVA News

NOVA’s Advising Model takes a holistic approach that goes beyond access, matriculation and enrollment, recognizing that a student’s journey is shaped by factors including family responsibilities, work commitments and emotional wellbeing. The holistic approach also focuses on the student’s experience throughout their academic journey, drawing on data that reveal students have the best outcomes when supported early and often.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
The Academic Pathway Advising Team serves as a care team model for advising, providing each student with a team of advisors and support staff who are aligned by academic pathway. Students will be able to identify the team to which they are assigned in Navigate360 under the tab labeled “Your Success Team.” The advising website will also be updated this summer to include the Academic Pathway Advising Team’s contact information. Students are encouraged to visit the Advising Center or to use Virtual Advising, as this option provides students with faster and greater access to an advisor.
