Three-Day Celebration Marks MEC’s 20th Anniversary

Thank you for celebrating the Medical Education Campus’s 20th anniversary with us. It was packed with awesome and inspiring events!

On Thursday, May 9, the NOVA Foundation hosted a fundraising dinner celebration, Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future: 20 Years of Excellence at the Medical Education Campus (MEC). We would like to extend our gratitude to the 23 sponsors and more than 170 attendees who came together and raised over $225,000 for the Medical Education Campus Fund. Event proceeds will help to acquire cutting-edge equipment, drive programmatic innovation and support faculty positions to meet the workforce demands of our region and ensure our students’ success.

On Friday, May 10, nearly 250 students from the MEC took center stage to receive their pins, marking the transition from their educational journey to the beginning of their professional careers. Many of our 20th anniversary sponsors joined us to congratulate the 186 health sciences students and 62 nursing students who were part of the 2024 pinning ceremony at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on NOVA’s Alexandria Campus.

Finally, on Saturday, May 11, more than 250 friends, family and alumni came together to celebrate MEC’s milestone anniversary with music, food and games for all ages. It truly was a day to remember.

Many of our newly pinned MEC students — and nearly 1,600 of their peers — crossed the graduation stage on Sunday, May 12, at EagleBank Arena. We extend our heartiest congratulations to all our graduating Nighthawks. 

And remember, once a Nighthawk, always a Nighthawk! We look forward to welcoming them to the NOVA Alumni and Friends Network.
