Alexandria Campus Holds STEM Day Event

On Saturday, April 20, NOVA’s Alexandria Campus sponsored a free STEM Day Event for the surrounding community. A variety of interactive activities were offered to help attendees explore biology, chemistry, geology, physics and geography. Activities included making DNA necklaces, exploring acid-base reactions, observing stream hydrogeology, experimenting with motion and electricity, mapping with drones, and more!

Children and adults of all ages had fun completing a “passport” as they moved from one activity to the next; a completed passport earned them entry into a raffle for several prizes — including a microscope, science tote bag, mini Lego lab set and plantable pencils!

Ten photographs, cropped in a sort of mosaic style, show adults and children participating in a number of activities, including playing a video game on a computer, observing a pendulum, posing with a plastic skeleton, completing electrical circuits, and more.
