NOVA Police Offering Free REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Response & Naloxone Training

Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, continues to be an alarming problem both in Northern Virginia and around the country, with overdose deaths increasing exponentially in recent years. All NOVA Police officers are trained and ready to respond to anyone who might be affected by the drug. Officers are also equipped to administer naloxone, a non-addictive medication used to reverse the effects of opiate overdoses.

NOVA Police now offer REVIVE!, a training course on opioid overdose response and naloxone administration, to all College faculty and staff. The course, which teaches participants what to do and what NOT to do in an overdose situation, as well as how to effectively administer naloxone, seeks to equip the larger community with emergency life-saving skills. 

Upon completion of REVIVE!, participants will receive a FREE PPE kit and carrying case. If you are interested in enrolling in the course, please email Lieutenant Tony Ong at TOng2@nvcc.edu to indicate your desired campus and course time. Spaces are limited, and classes are expected to fill quickly. Please also contact Lieutenant Ong with any questions about the training.
