SWEET! LO Hosts First Annual “Pie Day” Celebration
Loudoun faculty and staff attended the campus’s first annual “Pie Day” celebration on Wednesday, June 12. With more than 25 pies to enjoy, it was hard to resist trying each kind! From homemade cherry and strawberry pies to savory Quiche Lorraine, Loudoun’s bakers took our tastebuds on a delicious adventure. While some bakers didn’t reveal their secret recipes or divulge how to achieve a perfect crust, everyone enjoyed sharing fond memories of baking with loved ones. Indeed, what could be sweeter than colleagues getting together to swap stories (and laughs!) on a beautiful summer day?
Pie flavors included Boston cream, key lime, apple, cherry, strawberry, cherry and blueberry, pecan, peanut butter, chocolate cream, sweet potato, chicken pot pie, Quiche Lorraine, peach cobbler, fruit tart, strawberry rhubarb crumb, honey walnut, coconut cream — and even pizza pie!
The Languages, Arts and Social Sciences division looks forward to celebrating this new summer tradition every year and growing the pie list! Thank you to all our bakers, participants and college community members who joined us on this especially sweet day.
