CommonHealth Weekly Wellnote
How can your Virginia State Employee Wellness Program help? The CommonHealth programs and campaigns cover a variety of health topics and are available in a range of formats to meet the needs of different workplaces. Highly skilled Wellness Consultants provide the latest on stress, sleep, nutrition, exercise, and more for faculty/staff meetings, special events, conferences, benefit fairs, safety meetings, lunch and learns, etc. They provide traditional, in-person presentations and displays as well as virtual presentations, on-demand videos, and seasonal health-related challenges that are fun and engaging. Visit the website to see how CommonHealth can help you. If you’re looking to book an event in July/August, connect sooner rather than later to ensure you get a date that works for you.

NOTES:
- With the temperature rising, cooking indoors becomes less desirable. Grilling outdoors gives you the opportunity to spend time with family and friends while cooking delicious grilled meals. WeightWatchers is the go-to place with delicious recipes that are also good for you. Try this Grilled Chicken with Summer Corn & Tomato Salad recipe. This recipe will be ready to go in about 30 minutes. Visit WeightWatchers online for more quick summer-friendly recipes. All benefits-eligible employees, spouses and adult dependents get an exclusive WeightWatchers discount of 50% off the retail price of membership plans and can join now for as low as $9.75 per month. The Special Monthly Pricing and the Commonwealth of Virginia monthly discount is not open to retirees, their spouses and dependents, wage employees or Local Choice members.
- CommonHealth offers a variety of programming that is available to be scheduled. Their latest campaign is called Focus On Fiber. Eating an adequate amount of fiber helps control appetite and has many other health benefits. Connect with your coordinator to get on the schedule!
- Although Father’s Day is in the rearview mirror, this Month, we want to continue spotlighting the men in the NOVA community — June is Men’s Health Month! This annual observance encourages men to be proactive in their health by implementing healthy living decisions. Check out this Men’s Health Webinar presented by one of our insurance providers, Kaiser Permanente (open to ALL employees) on Wednesday, June 26 | 12-1pm. As part of their Wednesday wellbeing series, learn screening guidelines and ways to reduce the risk for heart disease, stroke, and the most common cancers for males. Register here.
By adopting the following practices, you can set yourself up to keep your back safe while at the office. Visit the Spine Health Foundation to learn more.
