Dr. Joel Frater, Intro and Welcome to the NOVA Campus Community
Dear Students and Colleagues: I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Vice President of Student Affairs and thrilled to become a part of this vibrant and diverse community. Whether you are a returning student or embarking on your journey at our esteemed institution for the first time, I extend a warm welcome to each of you. To our dedicated employees, I hope you have had a chance this summer to find time for rest and renewal before the rush of fall.
As we prepare to welcome students and employees to a new academic year, our primary focus is to provide unwavering support throughout your academic, personal and professional endeavors. Our Student Affairs division is committed to assisting you in areas such as health and wellness, academic enrichment, involvement and inclusion. We are dedicated to ensuring that your experience at NOVA is not only enriching and fulfilling but also truly memorable.
Allow me to highlight some essential resources and initiatives that exemplify our commitment to your success:

We value the traditions that unite our community and eagerly anticipate further development in these areas. Through partnerships with student organizations, we have organized exciting events such as Convocation, NOVA Day, Commencement that have brought our community together. I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks as we work together to foster a compassionate and supportive community. Remember, your sense of belonging is of utmost importance to us, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Together we share a commitment to NOVA’s mission, values and strategic direction that is powerful and guides our work.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new and existing employees, as well as our recently appointed Associate Vice Presidents, Mr. John Boggs and Dr. Jamin Bartolomeo. I would also like to express my gratitude to Acting Vice President Dr. Beatrice McKeithen for her visionary leadership of the division, and I eagerly anticipate her continued guidance as we move forward.
As summer activities draw to a close, I wish you a successful conclusion and renewed energy as we prepare for the start of the 2024-25 academic year!
