Faculty-Led Study Abroad Application Now Open!
The Office of Academic Affairs has been hard at work developing a strong foundation to allow study abroad to flourish here at NOVA. We appreciate your patience and know many of you have inquired about this process.
The application process is now open with the intent of running two to three new programs for Summer 2025 (though many factors contribute to this capacity, including global events and markets far beyond our control).
Here is the link for the new NOVA Faculty-Led Study Abroad Application. Please be advised that the application is very detailed. We advise you to preview it and gather all the necessary information before submitting it, as the application cannot be saved to complete it later (although, we are working on converting it to a system that would allow this).
There are many factors to consider when planning and implementing a study abroad experience. Please read the information in the application very carefully, and be sure your proposal fits the specified criteria. Applications that fit multiple criteria will be prioritized, depending on the volume of applications received. Depending on the level of faculty interest, number of completed applications and context of each application, we may not be able to facilitate a proposal for Summer 2025. Further, we do not guarantee that every prospective application will be selected to move into the acceptance and implementation phases for a number of reasons, including projected safety and wellness concerns, potential program viability over time, projected cost and a host of other global and local factors. These are all conversations the study abroad team within the Office of Academic Affairs will have with you. We also do not guarantee that programs that have run in the past will be renewed (for the reasons listed above).
While applications will be considered on a rolling basis, if you are interested in running a program in Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 we request that you complete your application as soon as possible. As each program brings its own complexities and challenges (as well as opportunities for students), we do not have an application deadline, but the sooner the better. Some programs can be implemented within a year, and some require two to three years to negotiate and plan. If your program is accepted to move forward in the process, we will work with you to develop a suitable timeline. The goal is always to build safe, student-centered and sustainable programming.
If you have any questions, please email studyabroad@nvcc.edu.
We look forward to working with you and your students!
