Coming Soon: Required myVCCS/myNOVA Portal Upgrade

July 18, 2024 / Tech Notes & Training

Starting this fall, the VCCS will begin to upgrade to the myVCCS/myNOVA portal. This update will present users with a new login portal. While the process should be seamless, there are a few aspects that everyone should be aware of:

  • New users will need to go through a new account claiming process in order to setup the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Clear directions will be provided to new users to guide them through the process.
  • Current MFA options will automatically migrate to the new portal, with the exception of push MFA.
  • Any existing users currently using push MFA will need to go through the account claiming process in order to re-establish the MFA. Clear directions will be provided to existing users to guide them through the process.
  • The term “WebAuth” has been changed to reflect security keys (FIDO keys, Titan keys, etc.) and passkeys more accurately.
  • Dual enrollment students will need to pick three (3) pictograph pictures instead of one (1) for improved security.
  • Pictograph MFA will remain disabled for all non–dual enrollment users.
  • Email MFA will remain disabled for all NOVA faculty, staff and students for improved security.
  • The minimum password character length will be increased to 14 characters. Anyone using a password fewer than 14 characters long will be required to update their password to comply with the new security policy.
