Let’s Rock and Enroll!

July 30, 2024 / General NOVA News

Let’s rock and enroll! Keep pushing students to enroll and encourage continuing students to stay on course and keep moving forward. Persuade new and visiting/transient students to discover the possibilities here at NOVA.

The Office of Academic Planning and Advising has devised strategies that could generate an enrollment boost. To ultimately get students to enroll, we must cultivate their interest throughout their college journey. We monitor and measure the incremental enrollment results from these efforts each month to revise and prioritize our planning.

  • Since April, the virtual and campus advising centers have assisted 20,160 unique students through 27,713 service transactions, they have scheduled 24,816 appointments, with 79% being same-day drop-in services for the Fall 2024 enrollment season.
  • A Fall 2024 enrollment campaign targeting continuing students who were enrolled in Spring 2024 was launched in April to prepare them to enroll for Fall. So far, 15,126 (36%) continuing students have enrolled since the campaign launched.
  • Another enrollment campaign targeted new students to attend an Advising-100 Session and enrolled 7,911 (17%) since the campaign launched.

We need your help! Encourage prospective students to get Nighthawk Ready and to participate in an upcoming Get Ready webinar designed to guide new students through necessary onboarding steps before seeking academic advising.

There are many opportunities for them to advise and enroll.

  • Students can attend an Advising-100 Session. These sessions [thru August 8th] are designed to guide new students through their first-semester enrollment and class scheduling, introduce them to important resources at the College and help them understand the academic requirements and course sequences in their program of study.
  • Encourage students to attend a Registration Lab to help them select the classes that meet their degree requirements, receive hands-on guidance to utilize and select classes in MyNOVA and get instructions on how to enroll and pay for classes.
  • Students can also visit the Advising Center or Virtual Advising for course planning and registration assistance.

We are excited to begin another academic year! Thank you for helping us help our students to rock and enroll!
