NOVA All Access Update + Virtual Lunch & Learn, Thurs., Aug. 15

July 30, 2024 / Events

This is a reminder that the College is moving to a new student-centric course material delivery model, NOVA All Access (formerly known as Barnes & Noble College First Day® Complete). This program will reduce the cost of materials for students and ensure they have all their materials across all courses prior to the first day of class. NOVA All Access will be in place for the Fall 2024 semester.

Interested in learning more? Click here to access a helpful Zoom recording (use passcode: NOVA2024#). The session includes a program overview and faculty and staff Q&A. Slides are available here.

Rob Johnson will host a second NOVA All Access Lunch & Learn for faculty and staff via Zoom on Thursday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to noon. Rob will again provide a brief overview/update and also answer your questions. Please register here to receive the link to the session. Note that the number of attendees is limited to 300 due to Zoom meeting limits. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information on how to join the meeting.

How does this change affect students?
Instead of purchasing materials a la carte, students get access to all required course textbooks and digital materials for a flat fee per credit. Through NOVA All Access, students can choose a delivery method that works for them — either pickup at the campus bookstore or direct shipment to their home. In addition, digital and electronic materials will be delivered directly to Canvas.

How does this change affect your courses and materials?

  • Faculty will follow the same processes as in previous years to select the materials best suited for their courses (and in accordance with the College’s current textbook policy).
  • Course materials can be adopted from any publisher in the faculty member’s preferred format for the course.
  • Digital/electronic and physical course materials must be identified by their specific ISBNs. Unlimited digital subscriptions are not included in the program but can be adopted as “recommended.” Physical + digital bundles can be adopted through their unique ISBNs.
  • The only requirement is that your course material selections are turned into the bookstore by the adoption deadline. For Fall 2024, this was April 1; for Spring 2025, the adoption deadline is October 1.

Your next steps:

  1. Review and/or submit your course material selections if you have not already done so.
  2. Check out this quick video on how to link course materials in your Canvas course. You can also access instructions here. Note: Instructions from Barnes & Noble reference First Day Complete, not NOVA All Access.
  3. Look out for future communications about NOVA All Access.
