Monthly Credit for Prior Learning Webinars Begin Sept. 6

August 19, 2024 / General NOVA News

During the July 29 president’s office hours, Dr. Kress shared important insights from recent enrollment reports—NOVA has experienced a decrease in recent high school graduate enrollment and an increase in adult learners. This shift emphasizes the need for us to be prepared to meet the unique needs of these students, including providing opportunities for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).

Academic Affairs has had several ongoing initiatives to respond to these needs. The most recent one is hosting monthly Credit for Prior Learning webinars on the first Friday of each month, beginning September 6.

In this recurring webinar, we will cover:

  • An overview of the CPL process and its benefits for students.
  • How students can earn credit through standardized exams, industry certifications, military training/courses and prior work experience.
  • Updates on the latest CPL initiatives and resources available for faculty and students.
  • The critical role CPL plays in supporting the academic success of our growing population of adult learners.

We strongly encourage you to attend and gain valuable insights that you can share with your students. Your participation will not only enhance your understanding of CPL but also equip you with the tools to guide students, particularly adult learners, who may benefit from these opportunities.

Please also help us spread the word by informing your students about this webinar. CPL can be a game-changer, allowing them to accelerate their path to graduation by earning credit for what they already know.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students achieve their academic goals. We look forward to seeing you at the webinar!
