Important Program Policy Reminder
As a reminder, the curriculum of our programs of study are valid for seven years. This means that in some cases, students may need to have their catalog year updated in order to graduate. Students may be placed into any active catalog year in which they were enrolled at NOVA. Please note that it is the catalog year, not the semester when the program expires (for example, the entire catalog year of 2017-2018 expires after summer 2024, so the expiration is not term-specific). Please see the table below for a list of catalog years and students’ last opportunity to graduate. You can also view the chart below in the 2024-25 NOVA Catalog. Students must complete requirements and apply for graduation by the deadline in order to receive the degree/certificate.
A significant number of NOVA students are enrolled part-time. To help students understand the time limits around their program of study, a note about students’ last opportunity to graduate is being added to 2024-2025 Advisement Reports.

Once a program is discontinued, students have three years to complete the program. The discontinuance supersedes active catalog years. Students must complete requirements and apply for graduation by the deadline in order to receive the degree/certificate.
