Walk. Run. Dance. Play.  What’s Your Move?

August 29, 2024 / Get Well

NOVA’s Office of Employee Wellness and Wellbeing (OEWW) invites you to join the movement toward a healthier, happier and more connected college.

Here are a few reasons why moving matters:

  • Improved health: Regular physical activity can improve your physical and mental health, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and boost your energy levels.
  • Increased connections: Building strong relationships with colleagues can enhance your job satisfaction, reduce stress, and create a sense of belonging.
  • Enhanced playfulness: Engaging in playful activities can reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance creativity.

Move Your Way by participating in events/activities like:

At the College

In the Community

  • Sign up to participate and get an email reminder about the upcoming The Kennedy Center’s National Dance Day.
  • Grab family and/or friends, take a hike and plan visits to parks in your neighborhoods. Explore the Virginia State Park and the National Park Service websites to find those right in your backyard.

Every step counts. Whether you’re hiking a local trail,  participating in intramurals, joining a fitness class, or simply taking a brisk walk during your lunch break, find activities that fit your lifestyle and interests.

Need more motivation?  OEWW’s got you covered. Monday Campaign’s Monday Refresh is returning in September to help you leverage the Monday “fresh start” mindset and tap into weekly cues to provide sustainable motivation that can help create life-long healthy habits.
