If you need help while on any of NOVA’s campuses or properties, please call the NOVA Police Department’s full-time Police Dispatch Center at 703-764-5000. This phone number is answered 24/7 by our full-time police Dispatch Center, so please store it in your phone.

NOVA Police recently discovered some old phone numbers that were historically used for the police department are still active. NOVA Network Engineers are identifying these outdated numbers and disconnecting them to ensure calls are routed to the proper place. Although the old phone numbers are forwarded to the current dispatch number, they will be disconnected soon. Please ensure the 703-764-5000 is the only Police Dispatch number in your phone contacts.   

And, while we’re at it, the start of the new academic year is a great time to make sure that the LiveSafe app is on your phone as well. 

LiveSafe is a safety app that is available for free in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. It contains a variety of safety resources for the NOVA community. You can easily dial 911 or contact NOVA PD via phone or text. You can access step-by-step emergency procedures, from steps to take in the event of a fire to safety tips for inclement weather. Users can also enable the app’s SafeWalk feature to share their location with family and friends. There’s even an option to request an officer to escort to your car or to request motorist assistance. It includes a safety map that identifies nearby police stations, fire stations and hospitals; a building or office door unlock request for NOVA faculty and staff; relevant push notifications; and a virtual tip line so users can report incidents of all kinds – like motor vehicle accidents, crimes and more — all at the touch of a button.

Note that when you open the newly downloaded app, you will need to select “NOVA” from the list of organizations and also add your name and contact information.
