Walker Wisdom Day 1: Posture Up
Many of us may not think much about how we walk. Having proper posture and technique can make a difference in how our body feels and responds to movement. Good posture can help keep your body aligned, reduce injuries, prevent pain and improve your balance and stability. Here are tips for walking properly:
- Keep your head up
- Lengthen your back
- Keep your shoulders down and back
- Engage your core
- Step from heel to toe
Walking with the proper posture may take some practice but the benefits are great. Protecting your back is essential to reduce unnecessary stress and strain. To learn more benefits and gain more tips and tricks, check out this healthline article. Also, YouTube has videos demonstrating proper posture. Being aware of posture will help you have a successful walk week. CommonHealth will also be coming to our upcoming ACE conference with a Back on Track session that goes into great detail regarding back health. Stay tuned for registration!
