The PUSH Pal Advantage: Powering Your Wellness Journey

Quick Recap: The  Monday Campaigns’ Five Steps to a Healthy Monday Refresh, Step 4: Do It With Others highlighted the importance of partnership in achieving a healthier, happier NOVA community.  Last week’s tip was to use Monday as a cue to connect with your Push Pal and get out there and move. The article focused on the transformative power of partnerships.

Research supports having an accountability partner to significantly boost your chances of achieving wellness goals. Studies show that individuals who work with a partner are more likely to stick to exercise routines, maintain healthy diets, and manage stress effectively. Accountability partners provide motivation, support, and a sense of commitment, all of which contribute to long-term success.

Let’s Take a Deeper Dive- How can you find a PUSH Pal?

Look Within Your Network. Start by considering your existing relationships. Friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors might be the perfect fit for your PUSH Pal partnership.

Peer Support for Wellness Goals. Join a Group. Connecting with like-minded individuals in wellness groups or clubs can provide a supportive community and potential partnerships. Seeking out kindred spirits can help you:

  • Make progress: Benefit from shared experiences and motivation.
  • Keep motivated: Stay inspired by others’ achievements.
  • Stay accountable: Have a partner to check in with and keep you on track.

Here are six potential sources of support:

  • Friends and Family: Loved ones can be excellent PUSH Pals. Schedule regular “workout dates” and hold each other accountable.
  • Walking Clubs: Join an existing club or start your own through the American Heart Association or another group.
  • Local Fitness Stores or Gyms: Many fitness stores or gyms offer clubs or programs.
  • Charity/Fundraising Teams: Participate in charity events to find like-minded individuals. Look out for those Fall 5K events throughout your neighborhood.
  • Neighborhood Boot Camps: Join a local boot camp workout.
  • Sport-Specific Clubs: Connect with people who share your passion for a particular activity.

This Monday’s Tip: Harness the Power of Relationships through the Push Pal Advantage.

Whether you’re already a seasoned duo or just starting out, it’s a great time to revisit and solidify your PUSH Pal relationship.

For those seeking a PUSH Pal:

  • Start by looking within your network: Consider friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors.
  • Join a group or club: Connect with like-minded individuals.
  • Use employee resources: Explore health coaching or support groups offered through your employer.

For those with a PUSH Pal:

  • Schedule a check-in: Discuss your goals, challenges, and future plans.
  • Reassess your commitment: Ensure that your partnership is still aligned with your needs.
  • Explore new ways to support each other: Try something different to keep things fresh.

By building and nurturing a Push Pal relationship, you can enhance your wellness journey and achieve your goals.
